The Americans have two well-known symbols to distinguish between the Democrat and Republican parties: The donkey and the elephant. A catoonist named Thomas Nast popularized these in the 1870's and they were adopted by the respective parties that Nast had been making fun of.
I purpose that the Canadian political parties do same in adopting cartoonish mascots which best represent them. Here are my recommendations...
