Sadly, my question to Tony Clement has gone unanswered on Twitter. The industry minister is busy with other stuff like convincing the court's that Globealive  is Canadian enough or planning a victory party after Michael Ignatieff loses the next election.

Last night a supercomputer competed against two humans on, 'Jeopardy.' And, seemingly unrelated, it was also announced that Dr. Geoffrey Hinton, a U of T scientist, has been awarded a 1 million dollar grant for his research in getting computers to recognize speech.

Somebody once told me that the movie, 'I, Robot,' was like an unofficial prequel to the Matrix trilogy. If you teach computers to think, speak and compete with humans, they will invariably become our ruthless overlords. And, somehow, I always knew that Canadians would play a major role in beckoning in mechanical armageddon...

Alex Trebek is from Sudbury, Ontario.

Keanu Reeves is from all over Canada.

Canadore the Destroyer will be from the U of  T computer labs?
